Governing Board of Caslon Community Primary School 2023

Mr Nasser, Mrs Kassim, Mrs Warford, Miss Garrett, Mrs Holden-Gough and Mr Gray.

What is a Governing Board?

The governors of Caslon Primary School are volunteers who, along with the Headteacher and staff, make decisions to improve and develop the school and ensure the school provides for all the pupils. Members of the governing board are made up of elected parents, members appointed by the Local Authority, co-opted governors, teacher representatives and the Headteacher. All members are elected for a period of four years.

Being a school governor is challenging and rewarding. Governors meet at least once per term as a full governing board. We also meet in smaller committees, focusing on Finance, Premises & Personnel and Curriculum.  Committee meetings are held on a half termly basis. If you are interested in becoming a governor, please get in touch to find out how you can stand for election.

The Chair of Governors is Mr Nasser and the Vice-Chair is Mr Gray, they can be contacted through the school office on 01384 – 818875.

Message from the Governors

As a governing board, you will be aware we have been unable to meet in school but we have remained active and in constant contact with school. We have moved to a new normal of video conferencing, even managing a committee and full Governor meetings which have been successful.

The school is in a great position despite the current challenges that education is facing during 2021. Governors have actively supported the school in making decisions that will support the children’s learning. Mrs Holden-Gough has ensured the safety of pupils and staff has been at the forefront of any decisions made within the government guidance.

The school has made massive ICT commitments in providing all the children from Reception to Year 6 with a Chromebook that is used both in school and at home. It is there to support the children during remote learning, but also when at school to support homework. This means every child at Caslon can aim higher and always keep on trying to achieve their goals.
